Day 10 - The party

Braedon, Kayley and Melodie
So far during this holiday we had not caught up with my Sue and Stewart (my mum's sister and husband), Annette, Steven (their two children) and Annettes three little children. They live on the other side of London while Annette now lives in Wales.

It was wonderful to finally meet up with them again on this night. I had not met Annette's two children as yet - Melodie and Angelice.

Braedon was a little shy for about 5 mins and then was quite happy to play with the girls. I think it was the chirping birds that broke the ice. The three soft toy birds we had purchased from the National Geographic shop before I left for the UK. Each bird makes it own unique bird sound.

It was all very hectic during the first half an hour with everyone being introduced to everyone else and chatting and catching up with relatives and friends we had met last time we were in the UK.

Soon enough as dinner was schedule for about 6.30 we were sitting down at our respective tables. Braedon was with me, which was not with the girls so we soon swopped him over to the girls table.

Nan looked gorgeous in her lilac top and does not look ..............>>>

While we were eating our entree is was all chat at the tables as really they don't all get together as often as they probably could.

I started taking photos of course and tried to get of all tables and of all the grandchildren with Nan, what we didn't get was a family photo. So will have to try and get this when we go to Wales next week.

Nan enjoyed her meal as we all did with a choice between the Salmon or Chicken, of course not being a fish eater, I chose the chicken

The highlights of the night were the cutting of the cake and of course we were all waiting for the telegram - dying to know what the message was. Nan opened it after she cut the cake. As Nan can't really read small writing anymore, Roy read the message out.

Hmmmm we were a bit surprised that the front of the card was a picture of the queen. The message was short and simple so all in all a bit of anti-climax, but I think a very special moment for Nan to actually get a birthday message from the Queen.
