Day 4 - London Town
Well not exactly a town - a big city.... We are supposed to meet up with my Aunt today, cousin and her three children today, however were not sure what time so will have a look round London and maybe meet up with them for the afternoon.
I haven't actually made a plan about what to see, we will just play it by ear. After another early rise - Braedon about 5.00am again. Shower and breakfast we took off about 8.30am and caught a train from Northolt to Holburn and changed here for Charing Cross which took us right to Trafalgar Square.
Braedon here looking at the view of the National Gallery London's National Gallery, founded in 1824, which houses a over 2,300 paintings dating from the mid-13th century to 190o
The fountain - of course Braedon had to get wet, Nelson's Column towers over the fountain.
We walked up the Mall and it took us about half an hour - Braedon doesn't have a walk mode it's just run mode - he kept checking out all the trees - I can't imagine why they were so interesting......
Stable Yard Road - just in time to see changing of the sentry guards
The end of the Mall took us to the Queen Victoria monument http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Victoria_Memorial_(London)
.
By the time we got to the end he was quite worn out - so we turned from the monument and walked back through St James Park - there was so much wildlife - lots of ducks, swans, pigeons, water fowl, something called a coot which an old man told Braedon. Braedon had no qualms about asking complete strangers for some 'bread please' to feed them all. He scored quite a bit however was a bit nervous feeding the ducks who were snatchers
From here we walked to Big Ben and purchased the London Big Bus Tour tickets where you can go in either direction round London and get off whenever you like. Our first stop was Piccadilly where we took a few photos of the Ritz Hotel - I must say it didn't really look that Ritzy.... We got another the blue London Bus which took us to Knightsbridge where we did a bit of shopping at Harrods. It's a huge place to shop, so many departments. The guide said Harrods employs 6000 staff. After a bit of shopping we went and had a late lunch in a cafe across the road. Named Cafe Rouge.
Braedon actually co-operated for this photo but was acting as bit silly...
It was about 5.00 pm and we were a bit worn out - Braedon especially so we caught a train from Knightsbridge to Holburn and then a train back to Northolt. Just in time for dinner, lucky we only had a salad for lunch. Eating out is quite expensive here so it's not something you want to do everyday.
We never met up with my Aunt and Cousin as they couldn't make it - just as well we went out for the day.Still have trouble staying awake past 8.00 pm - Braedon fell asleep about 6.00 that's why I am awake at 5.00 updating my blog. Will have to keep him awake until about 8.00 pm
